‘Life Partner’ is a comedy based on love and marriage

Produced by Abbas Mastaan and directed by Rumy Jaffrey, the forthcoming flick ‘Life Partner’ is all about love and marriage. The film stars Govinda, Fardeen Khan, Genelia D’Souza, Tusshar Kapoor, and Prachi Desai. The music for the film is by Pritam and the lyrics have been penned down by Javed Akhtar. ‘Life Partner’ is about the struggle in marriage where Karan (Fardeen Khan) and Sanjana (Genelia D’Souza) go in for love marriage and Bhavesh (Tusshar Kapoor), and his life partner, Prachi (Prachi Desai) struggle to make their arranged marriage successful.

Govinda plays Jeet who is an accomplished divorce lawyer who does not believe in the institution of marriage and is often responsible for his getting his clients divorced. The movie promises to give a rib tickling three hour entertainment.

Get geared up for the desi version of ‘Hangover’

The recent Hollywood flick ‘Hangover’ was a bit hit and the story of the film involved four guys who attend a 24 hour stag party in LA. When they wake up they realize that the groom has gone missing and this happens to be the worst hangover of their life. Now, the flick will be made in Hindi by Firoz Nadiadwala who has bought the rights of the movie for its desi version. The movie will be directed by Anees Bazmee. Abhishek Bachchan will play the role played by Bradley Cooper and Paresh Rawal will enact the character played by Zach Galifianakis. Katrina Kaif will play the role of the fiancée. The film will start early next year in the locales of South Africa.

Riteish Deshmukh and Sanjay Dutt are also being considered for the roles. Firoz will start on the script as soon as he wraps up ‘No Problem’.

Shilpa Shetty seeks blessings on Nag Panchmi

Shilpa Shetty has seen a lot of ups and downs in her life. She has tasted success, stardom, a row of flops, failure in love with Akshay Kumar and many other setbacks in the initial days of her career. Things took a turn for the better and she came into international limelight when she won the UK-based reality show ‘Big Brother’. Since then she seems to be going places. Launch of big brands, TV shows, presence at international events, big projects, she seems to be everywhere. Even her love life is on a high with her marriage plans with businessman Raj Kundra with whom she has also bought stakes in the IPL team Rajasthan Royals. Shilpa Shetty is all set to join the award winning English soap ‘EastEnders’.

Celina Jaitley goes vampy this season

Celina Jaitley has already been much in news for her take lesbians. Now, she is all set to show some of her acting skills and also shock everyone with her entirely new negative look. In her next movie ‘Accident on Hill Road’ she’ll be playing a negative character and she reportedly took 15 days to decide on the right style for the character and chose a very vampy appearance. She also joined a 10 day acting workshop to brush up on her acting skills. Celina has donned a new hairdo with much shorter hair in this thriller produced by Nari Hira of Magna Films. The new hairdo has changed Celina’s appearance so much that one takes a couple of seconds of closer look before one realizes the fact that it is indeed Celina on the frame.

“The new look has been created by Hakim Aalim. It was required to cut 10 inches of hair for the look. However, what he ended up doing was save locks of ten inches for me”, laughs Celina.

Directed by debutant Mahesh Nair, the film also stars Farooq Sheikh and Abhimanyu Shekhar Singh. The film shows how Farooq and Celina cross paths when Celina’s car hits Farooq in a freak road accident. What happens thereafter forms the crux of the film.

Mugdha Godse had won rave reviews for ‘Fahsion’ and she had also won a warm and close friendship with her ‘Fashion’ co-star Priyanka Chopra on the sets of the movie. So, it did not come as a surprise when Priyanka was seen giggling and enjoying her self on Sunday on the celebration of Mugdha’s 27th birthday. Also present were her ‘Jail’ co-star Neil Nitin Muskesh and director Madhur Bhandarkar. Neil and Mugdha were seen enjoying each other’s company. Mugdha Godse really got drunk at the party.

A sneek-peak at forthcoming ‘Jail’

Percept Picture Company and Madhur Bhandarkar have been known for their realistic and hard hitting movies like ‘Page 3’, ‘Corporate’, and ‘Traffic Signal’. Now, they come together once again for another hard hitting yet sensitive tale of an ordinary man in their forthcoming ‘Jail’ which stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Mugdha Godse, Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles. The music has been given by Shamir Tandon and Toshi - Sharib, and the lyrics are from Sandeep Nath, Ajay Garg, Kumar, Turaz. Neil plays the main protagonist, Parag Dixit, who has all the joys in his life- A great job, a lovely house, a loving girlfriend Maansi, a night out with friends at some suburban watering hole after a hard day’s job… Things take a turn when after a series of unfortunate events he suddenly wakes up in jail- handcuffed slapped on his wrists, continuous questioning by Cops, being slapped and beaten by them. What follows is the young man’s hard journey trying to adjust to place where he does not belong- dirty, crowded spaces, inedible food, hostile cellmates, angry Policemen and weird rules of the place….

Neil has already played a role a bit similar to this in ‘New York’. Lets wait and see how he performs in ‘Jail’.

The Sen sisters are full of praises for each other

The Sen sisters have always been admired in Bollywood, for different reasons though. The elder one, Riya Sen, is known for her glamorous and sexy image, where as the younger sis, Raima Sen is known for some very serious and challenging performances. Now, the two sisters are coming together for the first time in Rituparno Ghosh’s ‘Noukadubi’ and both will be playing roles which are apparently just the opposite of their images. Where Riya plays a de-glam village housewife, Raima will be playing a sophisticated woman.

Insiders say that initially Riya felt that Raima’s character had greater strength, prominence, and scope as compared to hers, but then she went ahead as her role was challenging too.

Both the sisters are full of praises and admiration for each other. Speaking about her experience of working with Riya, Raima said, “It was nice to watch her do such a complex character. She was so easy and comfortable on the sets and with the director. Everyone pampered her silly! This is the first time I’ve played such a mature character in Rituda’s film. I play the character of a learned and sophisticated woman who holds her own in any situation. It’s quite a contrast from Riya’s character who plays a naïve village belle.”

Riya stated, “Raima pampered me silly on the sets. Right from organizing the best make up vans and acquainting me with the staff in Kolkata, she was always a phone call away and kept everything prepared for me! Sometimes I felt I was treated like a baby, it felt like my first film.”

Beware girls! Shahid Kapoor gets dangerous this season!

With ‘Kaminey’ about to hit the screens, Shahid Kapoor seems to be everywhere at the moment. Also the dangerous and negative look that he portrays in this film has given an all new push to his career because all those who have seen promos of this film have liked the new image of this chocolate boy.

However, this dangerously handsome boy seems to be quite down to eart when it comes to showing respect and adoration to others and this incident proves so. Shahid recently organised a sudden press meet for ‘Kaminey’ in his vanity van. As the journalists poured in large numbers, there was hardly any place left in the van. There was a chair reserved inside the van for Shahid in advance, but Shahid, seeing the scarcity of space, offered his chair to an elderly journalist and himself sat on the floor instead. He even requested other young people to offer their chairs to the elders and sit on the floor.

The launch of ‘luck’ based game site by Imran and Shruti

The entire cine goers clan, the Bollywood fraternity along with Kamal Hassan wait with baited breath as newbie Shruti Hassan makes her grand debut with ‘Luck’ opposite Imran Khan. The on-screen chemistry between the couple as seen in the trailers and in the promotional events looks promising. Also, Shruti get to show some of her versatility as she does some karate and martial arts rounds in the flick with veterans like Sanjay Dutt and Danny Denzongpa.

Negar Khan to sizzle in the jungle

‘Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao’ had been facing some problems and the contestants seemed to be quitting away on issues related to certain tasks and also on account of the kind of food they were given. Thankfully, the issues have been sorted out and the action is up and going on the program.

The heat will soar up at the show with a new sizzling entrant Negar Khan who will make a wild card entry. The hot model was originally destined to be a part of the show but could not make it because of her visa problem. Now, the channel has arranged everything for her and she has already reached the forests of Malysia. Soon, the viewers will get to see Negar doing some tough tasks on the show.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ runs into problems with Sikh community

These days it has become a routine for some sort of controversy to crop up with some religious community just before the release of a much awaited film. The same has happened with Saif Ali Khan’s home production, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ set to release of July 31.

Charanjeet Sapra, President, Punjabi Cultural and Heritage Board, said that the members of the Sikh community are raising an objection to the trimmed beard that Saif sports in the film along with a few romantic scenes set in the Gurudwara. But Saif is not the one to turn away his face to the problems. He, along with his production team, held a special screening of the film for members of the Sikh community.

“We decided to have this special screening for them because we feel that they are representatives of a larger community. We didn’t want to offend anybody,” said Imtiaz Ali, Director.

Sapra has said that they would inform the filmmakers about their view by Friday over the issue, but Saif feels that he already has won their hearts. He says, “I think they liked the film. They will let us know by Friday.”

Aamir Khan shares the dias with Hillary Clinton

During her visit to India, Mrs. Clinton, attended a special interactive session with the students of Xavier College in Mumbai on Saturday and shared the dias with Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who’s also the brand ambassador of the education campaign Teach India. During this interactive session, Aamir emphasized the need for changes in the education. He said, “Today, students are mostly focusing on memorizing their subjects because they have to face questions like ‘Did you come first?’, ‘How much did you score in mathematics?’” “I would like to hear teachers telling students: ‘Hey, your friend is weak in this subject, would you help him?’”

“This will incorporate the feeling of sharing and caring among students and will help in making them good individuals. We should teach our kids to be caring.”

“Sadly, more emphasis is given to report cards and less on exploring minds.”

“Teaching should be a high paying job so that youngsters should aim at becoming teachers. I would like to see that one day in India, teaching is the most highly paid job.”

Hillary was quite impressed with the star and praised him saying, “It is a great delight to be here with Aamir Khan, who is not only a Bollywood icon but also the great advocate for education….I am here to see how US and India can work for the common cause of education, which is the great equalizer and gateway to opportunities,” Mrs. Clinton said.

Clinton supported Aamir’s view and said, “I think the actual requirement to become successful in the world is cooperation and collaboration among people and among countries.”

Kareena Kapoor apprehensive about her bare back scene

After giving some steamy scenes in ‘Kambakth Ishq’, Kareena Kapoor has also shot some intimate scenes in director Rensil D’Silva’s film ‘Qurbaan’ where she stars opposite Saif Ali Khan. Apparently, there is one scene in the film where she makes passionate love to Chhote Nawab and has loads of exposing including her bare back. But now, Kareena is apprehensive about the scene as she is nervous what her parents and would be in-laws might think about it. So the actress hopes to bring it up with director Rensil D’Silva and producer Karan Johar before the film’s final print is ready and get it chopped off.

Kareena says, “We are actors and can’t be coy after accepting a film on a bold subject like Qurbaan. I’ve done kissing scenes earlier. But the love-making scene is explicit by my yardstick. It comes at a crucial stage in the narration. And Saif made sure I was comfortable.”

There have been superstars like Big B and SRK himself who have been loyal to their life partners even after touching the highest heights of success. Among the new generation kids, the new comer chocolate boy Imran Khan, has so far been loyal to his girlfriend who prefers to stay away from limelight though. Imran is really emotional about his ordinary girlfriend Avantika Malik, and continued his seven year long relationship with her even after giving quite a few hits on silver screen. The little birdie has it that the lad has gone a step ahead in making his lady love feel special on his birthday and has taken time off to head to a secret destination for a romantic getaway far from the maddening public glare.

SRK and his 20 million pounds apartment in London

SRK had once stated that London is one of his favorite cities in the world and he also makes it a point to visit London every year to spend a holiday with his family. Also, it was in this city that SRK was honored with a doctorate. Now, there is another link of SRK with London. The reigning star of Bollywood has purchased a luxurious apartment worth 20 million pounds in the Park Lane area of Central London.

Everytime SRK visited London with family he had to stay in a hotel. So, he had been planning to buy an apartment here for quite sometime. He and wife Gauri looked at several choices before they zeroed on this particular place, but because of its high price, they took sometime in giving their final nod.

A source says, “It is a known fact that the King Khan likes to visit London every year for vacation with his family. He generally stays in the best of the hotels on his visits there, but for past few months he was eyeing an apartment in London’s plush area for himself, so that he doesn’t have to stay in hotels every time. After going through many choices both him and wife Gauri ended up liking this particular place. But given its very high cost they took some while to take the final decision. Finally as he went there this time with his kids, even they liked the place a lot and he there and then decided to lock it forever.”

SRK already owns quite a few houses around the world, but with this one he becomes the first Bollywood star to own such a costly property in a foreign location.
